About Working Days Calculator
Count the working days between two dates, leaving out weekends — for project deadlines, delivery estimates, notice periods and leave planning. It runs in your browser.
How the count works
Working days are the weekdays in a period. From Monday 5 October to Friday 30 October 2026, counting both dates, there are 20 working days, compared with 26 calendar days.
Include the start and end?
Decide whether both the first and last day count. Notice periods and leave applications often count both; "within 10 working days" usually starts from the next working day. A difference of one day matters for legal and HR deadlines, so check how the rule is worded.
Public holidays
Weekends are predictable, but public holidays differ by country and region and some move each year — Eid dates, for example, depend on moon sighting. For an exact count, subtract the public holidays that fall on weekdays in your period.
Different weekends
Most countries treat Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, but not all: in Saudi Arabia it is Friday and Saturday, for example. When working with a team or client abroad, count by their calendar for their deadlines.
Planning tips
Add a buffer for reviews and delays — a task estimated at 10 working days rarely finishes in exactly 10. For deliveries, confirm whether a courier counts the pickup day.
For the total gap including weekends, use the Date Difference Calculator; for a countdown to a single date, Days Until Date.
