Running Pace Calculator
Enter a distance and your time to get your pace, or enter a target pace to see your race finish times.
What pace is
Pace is the time it takes to cover one kilometre (or mile), written like 5:42 per km. Runners use pace rather than speed because it maps directly onto race plans: at 6:00 per km, a 10K takes 60 minutes.
Predicted race times
The predictions keep your current pace the same for every distance. In practice most people slow down over longer races, so add 5–10% for a half marathon or marathon if your time comes from a 5K. Riegel's formula, T₂ = T₁ × (D₂ ÷ D₁)^1.06, is a common way to estimate this.
Training tips
- Easy runs are usually 60–90 seconds per km slower than race pace.
- In the heat of a Pakistani summer, run early in the morning and expect a slower pace. Drink water before you feel thirsty.
- A GPS watch or phone app measures distance, and this calculator turns it into pace and targets.
