Speed Distance Time Calculator
Choose what you want to find and enter the other two values.
The three formulas
- Speed = distance ÷ time
- Distance = speed × time
- Time = distance ÷ speed
A common memory aid is the triangle with D on top and S and T at the bottom: cover the one you want and the other two show the formula.
Examples
Lahore to Islamabad on the M-2 is about 375 km. At an average of 100 km/h, that is 3 hours 45 minutes of driving, before stops. A runner covering 10 km in 50 minutes averages 12 km/h, a pace of 5:00 per km.
Units
1 m/s = 3.6 km/h, 1 mile = 1.609 km, and 1 knot = 1.852 km/h (used at sea and in aviation). Average speed over a trip includes slow sections and stops, so it is lower than your cruising speed. Plan travel times with a margin, and always keep to the speed limit.
