Volume Calculator
Choose a shape, enter its measurements, and get the volume in cubic units, litres, cubic feet and gallons.
Volume formulas
- Cube: side³.
- Box (cuboid): length × width × height.
- Cylinder: π × radius² × height. For a cylinder, enter the radius first and the height second.
- Sphere: 4/3 × π × radius³. A hemisphere is half of that.
- Cone: 1/3 × π × radius² × height, a third of the matching cylinder.
- Pyramid: 1/3 × base length × base width × height.
From volume to litres
One litre is 1,000 cm³, and one cubic metre is 1,000 litres. So a box of 50 × 40 × 30 cm holds 60,000 cm³ = 60 litres. Gallons are shown in both US (3.785 L) and imperial (4.546 L) sizes, because both are used. For water tanks and aquariums, use the Tank Volume Calculator. For concrete for slabs and columns, use the Concrete Volume Calculator.
