Churn Rate Calculator
Enter your customer numbers for one period to see how many you lost.
–
Formula
Customers lost = start + new − end. Churn rate = lost ÷ customers at the start. With 1,200 at the start, 150 new and 1,230 at the end, 120 left: 10% monthly churn.
Monthly vs yearly churn
Monthly churn compounds: 10% a month is not 120% a year but 1 − 0.9¹² ≈ 72% a year. The tool converts it for you. Average customer lifetime ≈ 1 ÷ churn — 10 months here.
Using churn
- Subscription businesses, ISPs, gyms, SaaS and mobile apps track churn monthly.
- Calculate churn per customer group (plan, city, signup month) to find where people leave.
- Lower churn raises customer lifetime value directly — see the Customer Lifetime Value Calculator.
