Matrix Calculator
Type each matrix with one row per line and the numbers separated by spaces, then choose the operation.

Matrix operations
- Addition and subtraction: both matrices must be the same size. Matching entries are added or subtracted.
- Multiplication A × B: the number of columns of A must equal the number of rows of B. Each entry is a row of A times a column of B, added up. A × B is usually not the same as B × A.
- Determinant: a single number for a square matrix. It is 0 when the matrix has no inverse. It is found by Gaussian elimination with row swaps.
- Inverse: A⁻¹ is the matrix for which A × A⁻¹ = I (the identity). It is found by Gauss–Jordan elimination.
- Transpose: rows become columns.
How to enter a matrix
Write each row on its own line, with the numbers separated by spaces or commas. Decimals and negative numbers are fine. The tool works with any size, and results are shown to 6 decimal places. It is useful for checking linear algebra homework, solving systems of equations (x = A⁻¹b), and transformations in graphics.
