About Random Number Generator
Pick a random number between any two values — for a raffle, a giveaway, a game, a classroom activity or any time you need an unbiased choice.
Choosing the range
Set the lowest and highest numbers you want. A range of 1 to 100 gives one of a hundred possible results, and the end values are normally included. To choose a winner from a numbered list of 250 entries, use 1 to 250 and match the result to your list.
Fair draws
For a giveaway or raffle, number the entries before you generate, and publish or record the list first. That way anyone can check the winning number matches a real entry. If you need several winners, decide in advance whether the same number may come up twice.
Classroom and team uses
Teachers use random numbers to pick students to answer, assign groups or order presentations without favouritism. Teams use them to decide speaking order or to sample a few items for quality checks.
How random is it?
Computers produce what are called pseudo-random numbers: they come from a mathematical process, but for draws, games and everyday choices they are as good as a lucky dip. They are not the right tool for passwords or security keys — use the Password Generator for those.
