Text to Speech
Paste or type text and press Play to hear it read aloud. Pick a voice, speed and pitch. The words are highlighted as they are spoken.
Which voices can I use?
The voices come from your own device and browser. Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone each include different ones, and Chrome and Edge add online “natural” voices. That's why the list differs between computers. If you don't see an Urdu voice, add one in your system settings (on Windows: Settings › Time & language › Speech, add Urdu; on Android: Settings › Text-to-speech, install the Urdu voice), then reload this page. Edge offers natural Urdu voices (ur-PK) by default.
Tips
- Speed 0.8× suits learners and proof-listening. 1.2–1.5× is good for skimming long articles.
- Long texts are read sentence by sentence, so very long documents don't stop half-way.
- Listening to your own writing is one of the best ways to find mistakes. Use it with the Word Counter and Text Cleaner.
Can I download an MP3?
No. Browsers play speech directly and don't let websites record it into a file. We don't send your text to a paid voice service, so this tool is free and private. To save the audio, use the Screen Recorder with tab audio turned on.
Privacy
Your text is read by your device. Some “online” voices in Chrome and Edge are produced by Google or Microsoft, so prefer a local voice for private text.
