Voice Recorder
Press Record, speak, and press Stop. Listen to your recording and download it. Your voice is recorded in your browser and never uploaded.
How to record
- Press Record and allow microphone access when your browser asks. The green bar shows your voice level. Aim for the middle, not the red end.
- Pause and continue as often as you like, then press Stop.
- Play the recording, then Download it. Each recording is kept in the list below until you leave the page, so you can record several takes and keep the best one.
File format
Chrome, Edge and Firefox save WebM/Opus, which sounds clear and keeps files fairly small, about 1 MB per minute. Safari saves M4A. Need an MP3 for WhatsApp, a podcast or a teacher? Convert it with the Audio Converter. Trim silence from the start or end with the Audio Trimmer.
Tips for clear sound
- Record in a quiet room with soft furnishings. Curtains and carpets reduce echo.
- Keep the microphone about a hand's width from your mouth, slightly to the side.
- A wired earphone microphone often sounds better than a laptop's built-in one.
Recordings stay in your browser's memory until you close the page. Download the ones you want to keep.
