About Password Strength Checker
Check how strong a password is before you use it. The check happens in your browser — the password isn't sent to us or stored anywhere.
What actually makes a password strong
Length matters most. Every extra character multiplies the number of guesses an attacker needs, so a 16-character password is vastly stronger than an 8-character one, even if the shorter one has symbols. Randomness matters next: a word with a number on the end, like Pakistan2026!, looks complex but is one of the first patterns guessing programs try.
Passphrases
Four or five unrelated random words, such as "copper lantern river seventeen", are long, strong and far easier to remember than a jumble of symbols. Avoid famous quotes and song lyrics; they are in attackers' lists too.
The bigger risks
Most accounts are broken into not by guessing but by reusing a password that leaked from another website. Use a different password for every important account, especially email, because your email can reset all the others. A password manager makes this practical, and two-step verification protects you even if a password does leak.
Limits of any checker
A strength meter estimates how hard a password is to guess; it can't know whether that exact password has already been exposed in a breach. If you suspect a password has leaked, change it everywhere you used it.
To create a strong random password instead of thinking one up, use the Password Generator.
