Invisible Character Detector
Paste text to reveal hidden characters. Each one is highlighted with its short code.
Why hidden characters cause trouble
Text copied from websites, PDFs, WhatsApp or Word can carry characters you can't see. A zero-width space inside a password or coupon code makes it "wrong". A byte order mark at the start of a CSV breaks the first column name. A non-breaking space stops Excel from reading a number, and a right-to-left override can make a file name look different from what it is.
What is detected
- Zero-width space, joiner and non-joiner, and word joiner
- Byte order mark (BOM)
- Left-to-right and right-to-left marks, embeddings, overrides and isolates
- No-break, narrow, thin, figure and other special spaces
- Soft hyphens, Hangul filler, braille blank and control characters
Hover over a highlighted mark to see its name and Unicode code. The cleaned copy removes them and turns special spaces into normal ones. Zero-width joiners are kept by default, because Urdu, Persian and emoji need them. For more clean-up (extra spaces, blank lines, curly quotes), use the Text Cleaner.
