Markdown Table Generator
Paste rows copied from Excel or Google Sheets, or CSV text, to get a Markdown table.
From spreadsheet to Markdown
Select cells in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice, copy them (Ctrl+C) and paste them here. Copied cells are separated by tabs, which the tool detects. CSV text with commas or semicolons works too, including quoted values that contain commas.
The table format
A Markdown table is rows of cells between | characters, with a separator row of dashes under the header. Colons in the separator set the alignment: :--- left, :---: centre, ---: right. "Pad columns" lines the pipes up so the table is also readable as plain text. The rendered result is the same either way.
Pipes inside cells are escaped as \| and line breaks become <br>, so the table doesn't break. Markdown tables work on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Notion, Obsidian, Reddit, Discord and most documentation sites. To turn Markdown into HTML, use the Markdown to HTML Converter.
