Markdown to HTML Converter
Write or paste Markdown to get HTML, or switch direction to turn HTML (for example from a web page or an editor) into Markdown.
Preview
The preview runs in a locked frame: scripts, forms and pop-ups in the content are blocked.
Supported Markdown
- Headings (
# Titleor an underline of===/---), paragraphs, **bold**, *italic*,~~strikethrough~~and`code`. - Bulleted and numbered lists, including nested lists and task lists (
- [ ]/- [x]). - Links
[text](https://…), images, plain web addresses, which become links automatically, and<https://…>. - Block quotes (
>), code blocks with```fences (the language name becomes alanguage-…class for highlighters) or four-space indentation, and horizontal rules. - GitHub-style tables, including column alignment with
:---:.
Safety
Links and images that use javascript:, data: or other unsafe address types are replaced with #. Turn off “Keep HTML tags written in the Markdown” when the Markdown comes from people you don't trust: any HTML in it is then shown as text instead of being passed through. The preview frame never runs scripts either way.
HTML to Markdown
Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, links, images, lists, quotes, code blocks (with their language), tables and line breaks are converted. Scripts, styles and embedded frames are removed, and layout-only tags such as <div> and <span> keep their text but lose the tag. This is useful for moving a blog post or documentation page into a Markdown-based site, a README or a notes app.
Privacy
Everything is converted in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Images and links in the preview load only from the addresses written in your content.
