How to use it
- Choose an image, drop it on the box, or paste a screenshot (Ctrl+V / ⌘V).
- Move over the image. A magnifier shows the exact pixels. Click to pick a colour.
- Click a code (HEX, RGB or HSL) to copy it, ready for CSS, Canva, Photoshop or Word.
In Chrome and Edge you can also pick a colour from anywhere on your screen, including other apps, with the screen picker button.
Colour codes explained
- HEX (#1E40AF) is used in websites, CSS, Canva and most design apps.
- RGB (30, 64, 175) gives the red, green and blue light from 0 to 255. Word, PowerPoint and Excel use it under “More colours”.
- HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) makes it easy to create lighter or darker shades of the same colour.
The main colours are found by grouping similar pixels and listing the biggest groups first. This is useful for building a brand palette from a logo or photo. To check if two colours are readable together, use the Color Contrast Checker. To convert between colour formats, use the Color Converter.
