EXIF Viewer & Remover
See what a photo reveals before you share it (camera, date and exact GPS location), then save a clean copy without the hidden data.
What is EXIF data?
Phones and cameras save extra information inside every photo: the device make and model, the date and time it was taken, camera settings, and often the exact GPS location where you were standing. Editing apps can add your name, software details and a small preview of the original photo. Anyone who gets the original file can read all of this.
Why remove it?
- Home and family safety: a photo of your house, children or car taken with location turned on shows exactly where it was taken.
- Selling online: photos for OLX, Facebook Marketplace or property listings can reveal where you live.
- Work and journalism: camera serial numbers and owner names can link photos to a person.
- Cropped photos: some editors keep a small preview of the uncropped original inside the file. When this tool finds such a preview, it tells you, and the clean copy removes it.
WhatsApp and most social networks remove location data when they compress a photo. Email attachments, cloud links, “send as document” and files shared over USB keep it.
How the clean copy is made
The metadata blocks are cut out of the file. The image itself is copied exactly as it was, so there is no re-compression and no loss of quality. Removed: EXIF (including GPS, camera serial numbers and the embedded preview), XMP, IPTC/Photoshop data, comments and PNG text notes. Kept: the colour profile, so colours look the same, and, if you leave the option on, the rotation flag, so a portrait photo doesn't turn sideways.
After cleaning, the tool reads the new file again and confirms that no EXIF, GPS or XMP data is left before you download it.
Privacy
Your photo is read and cleaned inside your browser. It is never uploaded to our server. For iPhone HEIC photos, first use HEIC to JPG, then clean the JPG here.
