The Manual Method
For dates in the same month: just subtract the days. 20 September − 5 September = 15 days
For dates spanning months, count month by month:
From 15 July to 8 October:
- 15 July to 15 August: 31 days
- 15 August to 15 September: 31 days
- 15 September to 8 October: 23 days
- Total: 85 days

Accounting for Leap Years
February has 29 days in leap years. A leap year is divisible by 4, except centennial years must be divisible by 400. 2024 = leap year; 2025, 2026, 2027 = not.
If your date range includes February of a leap year, count 29 days for that month; otherwise 28.
