PDF to Text
Choose a PDF to get its text as a plain .txt file.
Reading order or layout?
- Reading order joins the text as you would read it: best for pasting into an email, a document or an AI tool.
- Keep the page layout keeps columns and spacing with spaces, so tables and forms stay lined up in a monospaced font.
The text is saved in UTF-8, so Urdu, Arabic and accented letters come through. Very old PDFs with unusual font encodings can produce garbled characters. If that happens, OCR PDF usually helps.
No text found?
A scanned PDF is just pictures of pages, with no text inside. Run it through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then extract the text here, or use Image to Text for a single page.
For editable formatting (headings, bold, tables), use PDF to Word instead. To find what changed between two versions of a document, use Compare PDF.

How it works
