Hijri Date Converter
Convert an English date to the Islamic (Hijri) date, or a Hijri date to the English calendar.
About the Hijri calendar
The Islamic calendar is lunar: each month starts with the new crescent moon and has 29 or 30 days, so a Hijri year (about 354 days) is 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year. Ramadan and Eid therefore move about 11 days earlier each year.
Why dates can differ by a day
Calculated calendars can't know when the moon will actually be seen. This tool uses the Umm al-Qura calendar (Saudi Arabia's official calendar) or a tabular civil calendar. In Pakistan, the start of Ramadan, Eid and other months is announced by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after moon sighting, and is often one day after Saudi Arabia. Use the adjustment (for example +1 day) to match local announcements, and always follow the official announcement for religious occasions.
