Pakistani rupee against popular currencies
Which rate is this?
The converter uses the mid-market rate: the midpoint between buying and selling prices on international currency markets, updated once a day. It is the fairest reference rate, and the one shown by Google and XE, but it is not the rate you will get when you actually exchange money.
Rates in Pakistan
- Banks and exchange companies buy foreign currency for less and sell it for more than the mid-market rate. The difference (the spread) is their profit, so compare a few before changing a large amount.
- Interbank and open-market rates are published daily by the State Bank of Pakistan and the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan. They can differ from each other, and from this rate, by a few rupees.
- Remittances from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK and elsewhere: services such as banks, Western Union and money-transfer apps add fees and their own rate. Compare the final amount in rupees, not only the advertised rate.
- Card payments abroad (Netflix, Amazon, travel) are charged at the bank's rate plus any foreign transaction fee and taxes.
