Why is a tool stuck on "Processing"?
Processing can genuinely take a while for large files, but occasionally a tool does get stuck and needs a fresh attempt.
First, check the file size
A 100-page PDF or a long video simply takes longer to process than a single-page document. Give it a reasonable amount of time proportional to the file size before assuming something is wrong.
If it genuinely hangs
- Refresh the page and try again.
- Try a smaller version of the file if possible — split a long PDF, or trim a video, then process the smaller piece.
- Try a different browser or a private/incognito window.
- Check your internet connection is stable — an interrupted connection during upload can leave a tool waiting for data that never fully arrives.
If it keeps happening with the same file
The file itself may be damaged. Try Repair PDF for PDFs, or re-export the file from its original source.
Understanding what "processing" actually involves
Many tools genuinely perform substantial work behind a simple progress indicator — OCR text recognition, video re-encoding and large PDF compression all take real computing time proportional to the file's size and complexity, which is why patience for large files is often the right first response rather than assuming a fault.
A practical test
Try the same tool with a small, simple test file of the same type. If that completes quickly, the tool itself is working correctly and the issue is specific to your original file — likely its size or an unusual internal structure.
What normal processing time looks like
As a rough guide, simple operations on small files typically complete within seconds, while OCR on a large scanned document or compressing a lengthy video can reasonably take longer — knowing this general expectation helps judge whether a wait is normal or worth investigating further.
