Check the source first
Open your original file at full size. If it is blurry there, the tool cannot improve it — a blurry scan stays blurry.
Compression set too strong
Re-run the tool at a higher quality setting. For PDFs, move from Screen to Ebook or Printer. For images and video, use a lighter compression level.
Formatting shifted after conversion
PDF to Word and similar conversions rebuild the layout by interpretation, so complex designs shift. See the dedicated article on that.
Compressing an already-compressed file
Each pass discards more detail. Always work from the original rather than compressing a result again.
