ISLAMABAD:
President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday has taken serious note of the deteriorating law and order situation in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, particularly Skardu, where violent protests have caused widespread damage to public and private infrastructure and disrupted normal life.
He stated that peaceful protest is a constitutional right but must be exercised within the framework of law, a Presidency’s news release said.
The president strongly condemned the wanton destruction and damage to public. He said such actions are unlawful and fall within the ambit of serious criminal conduct under applicable law.
