Woman throws infant into canal

A woman, following an argument with her husband, threw her four-month-old baby into the LBDC Canal on Monday. The police have arrested the suspect and the District Police Officer has taken notice of the case.

Domestic disputes between Muhammad Aslam and his wife, Shanza, residents of 3-Four-L, Okara, were frequent. Following a recent argument, Shanza reportedly left the house with her four-month-old son, Mudassir. Near the 4-L section of the LBDC Canal, she allegedly threw the infant into the water.

After the act, Shanza also attempted to jump into the canal herself but was restrained by local residents.

Rescue teams, acting on the information, conducted a search operation in the canal and recovered the child’s body, which was handed over to the police. The body was then shifted to the District Hospital for postmortem.

Upon receiving the report, DPO Dr Asad took immediate notice. Police at Saddar Police Station registered a murder case against Shanza under relevant sections, with the complaint filed by the child’s uncle, Saddam Hussain. She has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
