A man, along with his brother, allegedly murdered his wife and her alleged paramour in the name of “honour” in Qasim Town of Malir, police said on Monday, adding that both suspects were arrested within hours and the weapon used in the crime was recovered.
According to police, the bodies of a woman and a man were found in a house near a graveyard in the Sukhan area. Both victims had been attacked multiple times with a sharp-edged weapon.
Police rushed to the scene after receiving information, cordoned off the area, and summoned the Crime Scene Unit to collect evidence. The bodies were shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
Khalid Memon, SHO Sukhan police station, said the deceased were identified as 32-year-old Aidan, wife of Irfan, and 40-year-old Sadar alias Sher Dil, both residents of Shikarpur.
Investigators said the prime suspect, Irfan, along with his brother Waheed, allegedly carried out the killings using a knife. Malir SSP Abdul Khaliq took immediate notice of the incident and constituted a special team, which apprehended the suspects within two hours of the double murder and recovered the weapon. Police said that during initial interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the murders in the name of “honour”. A case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
