Frequent street fraud incidents have alarmed residents of Faisalabad, as organised gangs of con artists looted more than two dozen citizens across the city within a single week, depriving them of cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, motorcycles, laptops and other valuables.
Police reports revealed that at least 24 cases of fraud were reported in different police jurisdictions, where suspects deceived victims through conversation, false assurances or requests for help before fleeing with valuables.
In the Thikriwala police area, Shahzad was robbed of his motorcycle in Chak 73-JB by fraudsters posing as elderly men.
In 229-RB, Syed Sabir was deprived of cash and a mobile phone by two suspects, while in Tandlianwala, Syeda Abida Bibi was allegedly looted after being tricked into conversation.
Several similar incidents were reported from Madina Town, where Afaq Javed was robbed of cash and a mobile phone, and the Factory Area, where fraudsters stole cash and goods from Adil Ahmed’s shop near Novelty Bridge.
In Gulistan Colony, Sajid Mahmood lost his motorcycle, while in Seghal City under Airport police limits, Qari Ataur Rehman was robbed of cash and a mobile phone.
In Civil Lines’ Chandni Chowk area, Shahzaib was looted, while in Galla Mandi, Jaranwala, Zulfiqar Ahmed was defrauded of a huge amount of Rs836,500.
