KARACHI:
At least four people, including two real brothers, were killed and multiple others injured in a series of road accidents in the metropolis on Saturday, police and rescue officials said.
One person died and seven others, including two women, suffered injuries in a bus crash in Steel Town on Saturday. The bus, carrying around 75 passengers from Sanghar to Karachi, lost control on Link Road in Gulshan-e-Hadeed due to high speed and brake failure, overturned, and crashed onto the footpath.
Rescue 1122 teams and welfare organisations shifted the injured to nearby private hospitals. The deceased was identified as 27-year-old Irfan Ali. The injured include Ramesh Kumar, Alok Kumar, Fariya Ahmed, Asfa, Krishna Lal, Zia Ahmed, and Ashok Kumar. The bus driver also sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment. Traffic on the Link Road was disrupted until the overturned vehicle was removed. Police said investigations are ongoing.
Separately, a high-speed car overturned near Malir Cut on Superhighway in Sachal police limits after the driver reportedly lost control.
Two brothers, 25-year-old Samiullah and 22-year-old Muzakkir, from Landhi, died on the spot. A third occupant remained unhurt. Relatives said the victims were part of a wedding procession that had arrived in Karachi from Peshawar.
In another incident, a 15-year-old pedestrian was killed near Kathore Bridge in Gadap City after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while travelling from Karachi to Hyderabad. No identification documents were found on the deceased.
Police announced the death through local mosques, and the body was moved to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification.
