LAHORE:

Kahna police have arrested the prime suspect in an acid attack reported in the area on Wednesday.

According to officials, the accused woman was traced and apprehended from Ghulam Hussain Colony in Kahna with the help of modern technology. SP Model Town Shehrbano Naqvi had constituted a special team to ensure her arrest.

Police said the victim, identified as 30-year-old Sufiyan, had a prior friendship with the suspect, identified as Rubina Bibi. According to the SP Model Town, the victim had recently married another woman, which allegedly led to resentment on the part of the accused.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect called Sufiyan to her residence on a pretext and allegedly threw acid on him. As a result, parts of the victim’s body and clothes were burnt. He sustained injuries due to the corrosive substance and was provided medical assistance.

A case has been registered against the suspect and further investigation is underway. Police said evidence is being collected to complete the legal process.

SP Model Town said individuals who endanger the lives of others do not deserve any leniency and will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
