Wiz Khalifa sympathises with Jim Carrey after organisers and his publicist dismiss viral conspiracy theories about him
Wiz Khalifa has weighed in on viral conspiracy theories suggesting that Jim Carrey was replaced by a clone during his recent appearance at the César Awards in France.
Speculation began circulating online after footage from the February 26 ceremony showed Carrey accepting an Honorary César Award. The rumours intensified when make-up artist Alexis Stone shared an Instagram post featuring a prosthetic face mask and artificial teeth, captioned, “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris.”
Responding to the controversy, Wiz Khalifa wrote on X, “Imagine how Jim Carrey must feel.”
However, the theory was swiftly dismissed by both Carrey’s representatives and the organisers of the French awards ceremony.
Gregory Caulier, general delegate of the César Awards, rejected the conspiracy claims, calling Carrey’s attendance “a historic moment.”
“Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation. Eight months of ongoing, constructive discussions. He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words,” Caulier said.
Carrey’s publicist, Marleah Leslie, also confirmed, “Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award.”
Carrey most recently appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, reprising his role as Dr Ivo Robotnik.
