Jesse Plemons praises wife Kirsten Dunst

Jesse Plemons is opening up about how his on-screen chemistry with Kirsten Dunst turned into real-life love.

In a new interview with Andy Cohen on Radio Andy, airing Monday, Oct. 27, the Bugonia star reflected on the first time he met Dunst, now his wife, while filming season 2 of FX’s Fargo back in 2015.

Plemons, 37, said he instantly felt a connection with his future spouse.

“Immediately we just hit it off in a creative sense and felt like we could trust each other,” he shared.

Playing husband and wife on the show helped them grow close off-screen too.

“I knew that we were gonna be playing husband and wife and spending a lot of time together,” he recalled.

“And, you know, you never know if it’s something you’re going to have to kind of work for. And then sometimes you get lucky.”

The pair, who starred as Peggy and Ed Blumquist in Fargo, both earned Critics Choice Awards and Emmy nominations for their performances.

The acclaimed season also featured Jean Smart, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Bokeem Woodbine, and Cristin Milioti.

Reflecting on his early impressions of Dunst, 43, Plemons praised her talent and grounded personality.

“We’d both been acting since we were kids, but she had a lot of success early on,” he said.

“And I was just amazed at how human and unguarded she was and giving. So it was just really easy and we had so much fun with those two parts.”

Their connection grew beyond the set, and Plemons shared with a smile that they “got together like a year and a half after that, and got a couple kids now.”

The couple, who tied the knot in July 2022, share two sons, Ennis, 7, and James, 4. During the conversation, Cohen also asked about his family life, and Plemons proudly shared that both boys are “getting into” sports and arts.

James, he said, is “pretty active,” while Ennis is “a little more sensitive, creative, just constantly drawing, painting, doing Lego sets.”

Plemons couldn’t help but laugh as he added, “Shout out to Ennis, he [builds Legos designed for] only 18 years and older.”

From co-stars to partners and parents, Plemons and Dunst’s journey proves that sometimes, the best love stories start on set.
