Deputy Drugs Controller, Dr Faheem Zia, led a crackdown on medical stores in Shahpur Tehsil, resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of illegal drugs.

According to a spokesperson here on Tuesday, the action was taken on the instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab Drug Task Force, Chief Drugs Controller Punjab, and CEO Health Sargodha Dr. Sara Safdar.

During the raids, two medical stores were sealed for selling medicines without bills and warranties, expired medicines and medicines without a drug sale licence.

A large quantity of illegal drugs, including narcotics, injections, unlabeled medicines and fake medicines, were recovered from the stores.

Dr Faheem Zia said that the medicines were seized and sealed under the Drug Act 1976, adding that a letter was sent to the District Quality Control Board, Sargodha, for prosecution.

He said that samples of fake medicines were sent to the Drug Testing Lab, Rawalpindi, for investigation. He said that the Drug Control Authority has appealed to the public to buy medicines only from authentic and registered medical stores.
