The situation in Bannu has turned tense after three elders of the Marwat-Betani Qaumi Tehreek were abducted and brutally murdered by unidentified armed men.
According to details, the three elders, Attaullah, Haji Farman, and Waliullah, were kidnapped on Thursday by unidentified assailants. A day later, their bodies were found dumped near the old police post at Tochi Bridge, close to Marwat Canal.
Following the discovery of the bodies, tension and fear gripped the area. It may be recalled that various tribal groups in Bannu have formed lashkars (tribal militias) in support of police and security forces in their ongoing fight against terrorists in the region.
In a separate incident, Bannu Police and the CTD killed two high-profile terrorists, including the mastermind behind the martyrdom of four CTD officials, during a joint intelligence-based operation late on Thursday night.
