Ross Duffer tells fans to turn off ‘garbage’ TV settings for ‘Stranger Things’ season five

Ahead of the Stranger Things season five premiere, Ross Duffer, who is the series co-creator, has a piece of advice for fans on how to watch it.

“A little PSA before you watch tonight. I want to make sure that your TVs are set up properly,” he writes on Instagram.

By setting up the TV, Ross means turning off the “garbage” options, which include dynamic contrast, super resolution, edge enhancer, and color filter.

Besides these settings, the creator also advises fans to disable noise reduction and true and smooth motion, as he describes them as the biggest “offenders” because he says they added “the dreaded soap opera effect.”

“Whatever you do, do not switch anything on ‘vivid’ because it’s gonna turn on all the worst offenders. It’s gonna destroy the color, and it’s not the filmmaker’s intent,” Ross notes.

Stranger Things season 5, volume 1, is streaming on Netflix.
