KARACHI:
A solidarity camp was held at the Karachi Press Club in support of the Global March to Gaza, drawing participation from political and religious leaders, civil society members, human rights activists, and students.
Organized jointly by the Palestine Foundation Pakistan, Federal Urdu University, and think tank KAP, the camp aimed to express support for the international land convoy to Gaza.
The convoy, which began in Algeria and reached Egypt after crossing several countries, has been blocked at the Rafah crossing by Egyptian authorities, who reportedly used force against the peace activists.
Speakers at the camp harshly criticized the Egyptian government for obstructing humanitarian aid and holding up the Gaza convoy, and held the United States complicit in the blockade. They also condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Iran, terming them acts of state terrorism.
Participants accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza by blocking food and aid while bombing civilians, and condemned the international community and Muslim leaders for their silence and inaction.
The speakers demanded an immediate severance of diplomatic ties with Israel by Muslim states and called on Pakistan’s government to take a firmer stance in support of both Palestine and Iran.
