RAWALPINDI:

Six soldiers were martyred and five terrorists killed on Tuesday when security forces thwarted an attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Bannu district, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists, described as “India-backed Fitna al Khwarij,” rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the boundary wall of the FC headquarters. The blast caused minor damage to the wall and nearby civilian structures and injured three civilians.

FC personnel retaliated, sparking an exchange of fire in which all five attackers were gunned down. “In this battle, six soldiers also embraced martyrdom,” the statement said.

The ISPR added that clearance operations in the area were continuing and vowed that “the perpetrators of this heinous and cowardly act will be eliminated.”

“The security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain steadfast in their resolve to eradicate Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country. The sacrifices of brave soldiers and innocent civilians have further strengthened the unwavering commitment of the armed forces to safeguard the motherland at all costs,” it said.
