RAWALPINDI:

The Education Department has issued strict instructions for a two-day anti-dengue campaign in all government schools across the Rawalpindi Division, to be completed ahead of the reopening of schools on September 1.

The directives mandate comprehensive cleaning of school premises, including playgrounds, corridors, and classroom rooftops, with the urgent removal of overgrown grass and wild vegetation.

Stagnant rainwater is to be drained, all leaks repaired, and classrooms, laboratories, and halls thoroughly cleaned; washrooms must be fully sanitised, equipped with soap and towels; the provision of safe drinking water ensured; and scrap materials and storage areas are to be entirely cleared.

Letters have been sent to all district and tehsil education officers, as well as school heads, instructing them to complete the cleaning drive by August 31. They have been warned that inspections will take place on September 1, and that heads of any schools found with overgrown rooftops, stagnant water, leaks, or scrap will face disciplinary action.
