LAHORE:
Installation of RCC pipe plants has been started in five cities under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).
Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafeeque said during a meeting that Rs13 billion had been saved in 51 cities through transparent tendering carried out under the supervision of the department.
He said only lined pipes with an estimated life of about 100 years would be used in all PDP schemes.
He said more pipeline plants would be established to maintain the supply chain.
The minister said never before had such development projects been launched simultaneously in so many cities.
In the first phase, 32 roadside water storage tanks were also being constructed, he added.
