Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a “One Punjab, one standard” policy to introduce province-wide infrastructure and design standardisation. Chairing a meeting, she considered the establishment of an autonomous authority for standardisation and urban design.

A decision was taken to set up a dedicated standardisation and design unit.

The chief minister ordered the preparation of a standardised design manual.

Setting uniform designs for roadside kiosks and cabins was also discussed.

It was decided that uniform standards would be implemented for roads, green belts, signboards and footpaths throughout the province. A briefing was given on infrastructure standardisation, with officials revealing that standard designs would be introduced for schools, hospitals, bus stops and other public buildings.
