Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Secretary General Salman Akram Raja confirmed that Ali Amin Gandapur has been removed from his position as Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail on Wednesday, Raja said that PTI founder Imran Khan had ordered Gandapur’s removal and directed that MPA Sohail Afridi be nominated as the new chief minister.

“Imran Khan has instructed that the K-P chief minister be removed from office and Sohail Afridi be appointed in his place,” Raja said.

Raja added that Khan expressed deep sorrow over the recent major attack on the military in K-P, holding Gandapur responsible for the situation.

“Imran Khan said Ali Amin Gandapur is responsible for the current circumstances and believes he should no longer remain in the position,” he said.

According to Raja, Khan also remarked that the situation in K-P had deteriorated to a level “beyond control,” and that removing Gandapur was in the province’s best interest.
