ISLAMABAD:
In a relief for medical and dental postgraduate students, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to register all students and degree holders admitted before January 16, 2023, after the award of their degrees.
This decision has effectively shielded earlier batches from the stricter accreditation requirements introduced under the PMDC Act 2022.
In its meeting held on January 7, 2026, the PMDC council decided that all cases of students and degree holders who were admitted or completed their degrees up to January 16, 2023, will be registered after the award of their degree by the PMDC.
For students admitted after January 16, 2023, it will be mandatory that the degree-awarding institution is recognised by the PMDC and that the training centre is accredited under Section 25 of the PMDC Act 2022.
This relief applies to qualifications such as MS, MD, MDS, MPhil, PhD, FCPS, MCPS and various diploma programmes obtained from Pakistani universities, institutions, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). The PMDC has directed all eligible candidates to complete the registration process in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
