Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has appreciated the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar programme team for achieving the target set by the provincial government, to provide loans to build 100,000 houses by the year end.
She hailed the team for achieving the one-year target in 10 months.
Under the housing programme, Rs120 billion worth of interest-free loans have been disbursed to 100,835 low-income families. So far, 22,305 houses have been completed and occupied, while 64,190 are in the final stages of completion.
She said transparent disbursement of 100,000 loans in 10 months stood as a model of good governance and efficiency of the Punjab government.
“Our resolve to achieve the target of building 500,000 houses in five years remains unwavering,” she said.
