In two separate police encounters in Kahna, a suspected drug dealer was killed while another was injured and arrested, as three accomplices managed to flee the scene, police said.
According to details, early yesterday morning, ASI Tabassum of the CCD Kahna set up a checkpoint near Kahna Jhedo Puli with his team to apprehend wanted criminals and drug traffickers.
When the police tried to stop a suspicious motorcycle carrying three men, the suspects opened fire on the officers. In the crossfire, one suspect was critically injured by gunfire and was being transported to the hospital for medical assistance, but he died en route.
The deceased was identified as Ramzan, who was reportedly involved in drug trafficking and other serious crimes. His two companions managed to escape.
In a separate encounter, ASI Tariq of CCD Kahna attempted to stop two motorcycle riders at the Shehzad Road checkpoint.
The suspects tried to flee, causing their motorcycle to crash into an electric pole. One suspect, Israr, a known drug dealer, was injured with a broken leg, while his accomplice escaped.
