SUKKUR:

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has dismissed rumours about the possible removal of President Asif Ali Zardari, stating that some people are uncomfortable because politicians, the government and the military stand united.

“For the first time, politicians, the government and the military establishment are on the same page, and that bothers certain individuals. These people are spreading such stories,” Naqvi, who does not belong to any of the ruling parties but is regarded close to Zardari, said on Saturday.

The country’s top security czar was responding to the query of a journalist during his visit to Sukkur.

When asked about rumors that Zardari is being removed from the presidency and a new constitutional amendment is being introduced, Naqvi urged the media to avoid engaging in politics for just two days, the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

“Please do not believe social media rumors. Some people are disturbed by our unity,” he added.

Naqvi noted that 2,700 Muharram processions are being held across the country with the largest one taking place in Sukkur on Saturday.

“Credit goes to the entire team for successfully managing the country’s largest procession. All processions will conclude peacefully by evening,” he added,

When asked whether the federal government is aware of the situation in the Sindh districts of Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Kandhkot, where dacoits pose a threat to security, Naqvi replied in the affirmative. “Yes, we are aware. And just like we pushed terrorists out of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, we will deal with the dacoits in Sindh as well. The federal and provincial governments will jointly take care of the issue.”
