R&B singer Montell Jordan, best known for his 1995 hit This Is How We Do It, has revealed that his prostate cancer has returned following surgery.

The news comes two years after his initial diagnosis, when he underwent a prostatectomy.

In a candid statement, Jordan shared that he is now undergoing proton radiation therapy and taking hormone blockers to manage the recurrence.

He emphasized the importance of early detection and the need for open conversations about men’s health, particularly in the Black community, where prostate cancer is more common and often diagnosed at a younger age.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men worldwide. According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with it during their lifetime. The prognosis is generally favorable when detected early, with localized prostate cancer having a nearly 100% five-year survival rate. However, recurrence after treatment can occur, and outcomes depend on the cancer stage, Gleason score, and response to therapy.

Jordan’s announcement also highlighted the role of regular screenings and PSA testing, which can be vital in catching the disease early.

He encouraged fans to prioritize their health, remain vigilant about warning signs, and seek medical guidance promptly.

Despite the recurrence, Jordan remains focused on his treatment and maintaining a positive outlook. Fans and fellow artists have responded with messages of support, applauding his transparency and advocacy.

His story underscores the importance of awareness, early detection, and ongoing monitoring for men at risk of prostate cancer.
