Lana Del Rey has shared her thoughts on recent global crises, addressing the deadly flash floods in Texas and the continued humanitarian emergency in Gaza.
On Monday, she posted a message on Instagram expressing condolences for those affected by the severe flooding in central Texas which has claimed the lives of more than 100 people. “All of my prayers are with you every moment of the day this week, and may all the angels be with you as you search for even more lost loved ones.”
Del Rey joins other musicians such as Billie Eilish, Shakira, and Miranda Lambert in acknowledging the ongoing tragedy.
In response to followers asking about the Gaza conflict, Del Rey clarified her stance. “And yes of course we pray for Palestine every day,” she wrote in the comments. She explained that peace in the region remains a personal hope, citing her long-standing awareness and study of the conflict.
Public response to her message has been mixed, reflecting broader tensions around celebrity commentary on global conflicts.
One user noted, “oh but they said she was zionist huh,” while another praised her stance, writing, “i’m so happy that lana is on the right side of history.” Others criticised the delay in celebrity support for Palestine, saying, “we get whispers of support (if anything at all).”
More than 55,000 Palestinians have died due to Israeli violence since the October 7, 2023, with mass displacement and famine worsening in the Gaza Strip.
