LAHORE:
Thousands of passengers traveling via Pakistan Railways can expect improved facilities at Lahore’s historic railway station, as work begins on a modern parking area and an adjoining park. The project, supported by the Punjab government, is expected to be completed later this year.
Previously, passengers often faced long queues and traffic congestion when arriving at the station, with limited parking options. Once finished, the upgraded facilities will allow hundreds of vehicles to park efficiently, reducing travel delays from hours to minutes.

The plan also includes a dedicated bridge and connecting roads to other parts of Lahore, ensuring smoother access for those arriving and departing the station. Passengers will have a separate, scenic road leading directly into the railway complex, while exit routes will be streamlined for ease of movement.
Speaking about the project, Deputy Director Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Faisal Shafeeh said, “This project by the Punjab government will be completed within the designated timeline. Parking at Lahore Railway Station will have a capacity for 250 to 300 vehicles, and thousands of passengers will be able to reach the station directly without any obstruction.”

He added that nearby main roads will also be connected to the station via access roads, and passengers arriving solely for the railway will use a dedicated bridge for seamless entry. Separate roads are being built to facilitate travel to other areas of the city.

In addition to the parking and road upgrades, the railway station’s interior has also been enhanced. A family lounge and VIP lounge are already operational, providing passengers and their relatives with premium food and beverage services.
Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve the station’s overall convenience and aesthetic appeal, making travel through Lahore Railway Station more efficient and comfortable for commuters.
