RAWALPINDI: Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera has returned to join Lahore Qalandars ahead of the team’s upcoming HBL PSL 2025 fixture against Peshawar Zalmi on 18 May.
Perera, 34, brings proven firepower and experience to the Qalandars’ lineup. A dynamic presence at the top of the order, he has scored over 4,500 T20 runs in his career and has been in particularly explosive form in recent years, with a T20 strike rate of 151.33 over the last two years.
On arrival, Kusal Perera expressed his delight at rejoining the squad, saying: “It feels great to be back with Lahore Qalandars. I’ve always enjoyed playing in the PSL, and I’m really happy to return at such an important time for the team. I’m looking forward to contributing in any way I can and giving the fans something to cheer about. Can’t wait to link up with the team at the hotel and get things going.”
His return comes after the HBL PSL 2025 was briefly postponed on May 10 due to cross-border tensions with neighbouring country India. Following the temporary suspension, the tournament is now set to resume from 17 May with the final on May 25 in the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
