Katy Perry has achieved remarkable financial success with her Lifetimes tour, grossing over $80 million from ticket sales despite months of criticism.
According to her management, Perry has sold 1.1 million tickets across 45 shows in the US, Canada and Australia, generating $80 million. These figures, provided to Billboard, do not include her upcoming tour stops in Latin America, Europe and China, which are expected to increase her total earnings substantially.
On social media, the pop star has faced criticism for both her performances and personal choices as detractors mocked her choreography and stage outfits,
Earlier this year, Perry also faced backlash for joining an all-female Blue Origin space flight alongside Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez which critics labelled a display of extravagance.
In response, Perry described online negativity as the work of the “unhinged and unhealed.” She added, “No one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe about yourself.” She said she chooses to meet such attacks with grace and compassion.
The milestone comes during a personal transition, following her July split from Orlando Bloom after nine years together. Reports also suggest her rumoured romance with Justin Trudeau has cooled.
With her seventh studio album 143 and her ongoing global tour, Perry continues to demonstrate resilience and star power despite criticism.
