Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, has announced that the Motor Registration Wing at the Civic Centre in Karachi will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays to facilitate citizens.

In a statement issued by the provincial minister on X, it was confirmed that the decision was made to ease the registration process for the public. The Motor Registration Wing, located at the Civic Centre, will operate on weekends from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, the notification stated.

“I have directed the Excise Department Sindh to facilitate citizens facing issues in motorcycle number plate replacement. From now on, citizens can get their number plates made and collected on Saturdays and Sundays as well. All related services will continue over the weekend,” he stated.

According to the director general, the decision was taken due to the increased public demand and congestion at the Civic Centre, aiming to provide greater convenience to those seeking number plates for their vehicles.

The Sindh government had issued a final deadline for vehicle owners to replace their number plates with the new ‘Ajrak’ design. Chawla announced that after April 3, vehicles displaying any number plates other than the newly issued ones will no longer be accepted.
