Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani lightened the mood in court on Wednesday with a witty remark, saying, “If judges don’t get to vote, then let’s just shut down the courts!”

The exchange occurred when a lawyer requested the court not to fix the next hearing of a case for October 16, citing the SCBA elections scheduled for that day.

Smiling, Justice Kayani responded, “If it’s Bar elections, then tell them to close the courts,” adding humorously, “You don’t vote for judges anyway – perhaps you should start doing that too.”

The comment drew laughter from those present in the courtroom.
