ISLAMABAD:
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday expressed serious concerns over the High Court’s current building, noting that it has yet to be officially handed over.
“No action has been taken regarding the substandard construction of the IHC building. Billions of rupees have been spent, yet the air conditioning system remains non-functional,” he stated during a case hearing.
The judge added that he has submitted written notes recommending that the issue of the building’s poor construction be referred to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
“We had previously advised former Chief Justice Amir Farooq that action should be taken on this matter. I have also raised the issue of the High Court building’s faulty construction before the full court,” Justice Kayani said, noting that despite installing an air conditioning system costing millions, they were still compelled to arrange separate units themselves.
